Racing

Role: To oversee the development, improvement and structure of BMX Racing within NSW

The 2019 BMXNSW Racing Season was a restructure from the previous season with a reduction in the number of State Events. BMXNSW also decided to run with a race calendar of State Series Rounds only for each event eliminating the former Open model.

The season consisted of;

  • 9 Round State Series

  • The BMXtreme Carnival held at Maitland BMX Club and

  • The State Championships also held at the Maitland BMX Club

  • There were 5 less events than in 2018

The overall figures for 2019 were;

  • A total of 5115 entries for the 9 State Series Round at an average of 568 per event

  • This average resulted in an average increase per event of 172 entries

  • The average for Country Events increased on average by 195 entries

  • The largest attendance at a State Series event was 620 entries (the smallest attendance was 535 - only 33 below the overall average)

  • State Championships attendance was the largest since 2015

  • There were 6591 entries in total for all events including both major events.

Every event on the calendar took place as scheduled. From memory the only event affected by wet weather once again was the BMXtreme Carnival held at Maitland (always seems to rain on Saturday June Long Weekend).

The Board of the Maitland BMX Club and their members are to be congratulated for putting on 2 high quality events.

I would like to thank Russell and the Team at Emergency Medics Australia for their support of racing in NSW over the past few years.

I would like to commend the Clubs and their members for your approach to the introduction of the Officials Matrix and this had an immediate effect on the number of officials we had at each of the last 5 events of the year culminating in 55 individual Officials for at State Championships weekend.

Thank you to all officials and volunteers who make every event possible. We can't have racing without riders but we can't conduct safe and fair racing for the riders without the loyal and dedicated officials that represent their clubs and themselves with distinction at each event.

Kind Regards,

Bluey Seaton
